Join us for an incredible evening with Legendary African Jazz Artist Manu Dibango in Conversation with Georges Collinet as they discuss his brand new book, "A Stroll With My Sax Through The Corridors of My Life"
ABOUT THIS BOOK
Coming from a Protestant background, Manu Dibango arrived in Saint-Calais (Sarthe) to continue his studies with only 3 kilos of coffee to pay his studies. A Student at Chartres and at Chateau-Thierry in the early 1950s, he discovered jazz and learned to play the piano; but it is in Reims, where he is preparing the baccalaureate, he learned to play the saxophone and began performing in night clubs. Music will follow a long stay in Europe.
This book is the self-portrait of a musician whose talent eventually take him to legendary recognition, through a factor that called itself destiny. The career of this artist is a permanent paradox in this Africa where he has remained constant but it has never been recognized at fair value; in France, he remains before being African musician; but in the rest of the world is a star.
In this book, the Patriarch looks at the his life story and the people and spaceswhere music has led him. Throughout his story, Africa, France and America are spoken of with passion.
